Dear Mr. Matkin,
I am a junior at Georgetown University, studying at the School of Foreign Service and majoring in Culture and Politics, with a minor in Contemporary Arab Studies. I am writing to you because I am very interested in interning for your company this summer. I believe that an internship with Ricochet Public Relations will allow me to prepare myself for my future career plans, and that I will be able to benefit the company with my skills and hard work.
My primary interest in working for Ricochet Public Relations is to learn more about what it really is like to work in the PR field. It is something I’ve looked into doing after I graduate, and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience this summer would be invaluable in helping to complete my decisions about my future. I’m a hard worker and eager to learn anything knew. Although I don’t have previous PR experience, I am sure that my intellectual curiosity and work ethic will still bring benefit to your company.
I’ve previously interned at an organization called the Eurasia Center, which allowed me to see how smaller organizations are run. I was in charge of many office duties, which I’m sure prepared me for any future office or clerical duties with another company. I also had to do research and publish economic country profiles for the organization’s website, so I have research experience as well. I helped with the planning for a World Russian Forum, where my duties included creating mailing lists, contacting sponsors, translating duties, etc. I hope that I will be able to transfer everything I learned and use it with an internship at Ricochet this summer.
My availability is full-time, starting immediately up until the end of summer. At the end of August, I will be starting my senior year at Georgetown University, so I would be available on a part-time basis if necessary, in accordance with my schedule.
Thank you for taking the time to read my application. I hope you take me into serious consideration and allow me to prove myself to you and your company this summer.
Sincerely,
Kamilla Khabibrakhmanova
